Founder, President and CEO
Mio Babic founded iStreamPlanet in 2000 and has brought the company to the forefront of the industry, leading his team in architecting, designing and implementing video workflow solutions to meet the needs of iStreamPlanet’s premium content customers.
Babic is recognized as a pioneer in digital media and speaks frequently at industry events such as the National Association of Broadcasters Show, IBC, Streaming Media, OASIS: The Montgomery Summit and more.
Babic has driven many firsts for the industry including the first implementations of digital rights management, the first live, multi-camera webcast, and the first delivery of over-the-top 60 Hz content. Babic was recently awarded Technology Entrepreneur of the Year by the Technology Business Alliance of Nevada, and has been nominated for a Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding New Approaches to Sports Programming in 2009, 2010, and 2011, and in 2012 for the first live streaming of the SuperBowl.
Babic holds degrees in finance and economics from Montana State University.
Vice President of Accounting and Finance
Jonathan Donath is responsible for all accounting and finance operations at iStreamPlanet.
Prior to joining iStreamPlanet, Donath handled the financial activities for a variety of venture backed companies, most recently at Fallbrook Technologies International, where he was responsible for all accounting and finance operations. Previous to that, Donath worked at Southwest Asset Management Group, a venture capital fund specialized in helping early stage enterprises with capital and management expertise. Donath began his career at Clifton Allen Larson, a top ten national accounting firm.
Donath received his MBA from Arizona State University, a BA in finance and a BS in accountancy from Northern Arizona University and is a registered CPA in Arizona.
Vice President of Product Management
As Vice President of Product Management at iStreamPlanet, Davis is responsible for creating the product roadmap and leading customer focused engineering and solutions. Davis brings with him more than 20 years of software and cloud services experience.
Prior to iStreamPlanet, Davis has broad experience in the technology industry. He has led both engineering and product management teams at small startups, Microsoft, and most recently at Amazon Web Services. His experiences range from designing and manufacturing consumer devices, providing security and encryption technology across Azure and Office applications, to Internet scale storage and distributed systems in widespread use worldwide.
Davis studied Physics and Mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Vice President of Technical Operations
As Vice President of Technical Operations at iStreamPlanet, Franzen is responsible for the ongoing operations of the solutions and services provided to our customers. Franzen brings over 20 years in Information Security and Information Technology Operations internationally.
Prior to iStreamPlanet, Franzen was a member of the executive team in companies performing eCommerce supporting hundreds of millions of annual revenues with companies like Sephora, Salton, E-Luxury, and Ulta. Franzen was a leader in the entertainment space at TiVo focusing on International Technical Operations, supporting digital rights management and information security delivering digital assets to the consumer. While focused on information security in the internet transaction world (PCI-DSS, ITIL V3r2, AML, ISO 27001-2), he also achieved 99.995% uptime often in the Software as a Service space within multiple startups.
Franzen studied Technology, Leadership and Warfighting while at the Marine Corps College of Continuing Education.
Vice President of Software Engineering
As Vice President of Software Engineering at iStreamPlanet, Eric Schmidt is responsible for all aspects of media workflow and consumer experience software engineering. Prior to joining iStreamPlanet, Schmidt was a product lead in the cloud engineering team at Google, driving delivery of fully managed, large-scale data processing services. Channeling his passion for sports and data science he also led the development of a real-time sentiment analysis and results prediction framework for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 MLB World Series. Before his tenure at Google, Schmidt was a senior director at Microsoft, driving the adoption of Microsoft’s devices and cloud services in the media and entertainment vertical. His team built and delivered Emmy Award-winning media workflow experiences for NBC Sports, the Democratic National Convention, NCAA March Madness on Demand, Major League Soccer, and the 2008, 2010, and 2012 Olympic games. He started his career as a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Schmidt holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the The Pennsylvania State University and has studied Computer Science at the University of Washington. Go Dawgs!
