In 2009, the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour partnered with Microsoft and iStreamPlanet to broadcast the AVP Tour live online in Microsoft Silverlight 2 technology. The end result was a successful string of live webcasts using the most advanced, cutting edge live streaming technology available at that time. Mid-way through the tour, as Silverlight 3 and Microsoft's IIS Smooth Streaming technology was released to market, and as a result of the strong trust developed within the partnership, AVP chose to make the switch. This allowed the AVP to do a Full High Definition quality webcast through the second half of the season.
