Once again live streaming is showing the fastest ad viewing growth according Freewheel’s Q2 2015 Video Monetization report, rising 146% in year over year growth.
The majority of those views are still coming from live sports, at 78%. But all other live programming is up as well including news up to 7% of the pie, and long form, live linear entertainment streaming is up to 15%.
And while OTT pure play providers (think YouTube) are still relying on short form for ad view growth, premium programmers are seeing over a third of their views coming from live content.
The FreeWheel Video Monetization Report is released quarterly and highlights the changing dynamics of how enterprise-class content owners and distributors are monetizing premium digital video content.
